Registering with the Income-Driven Repayment Plans

While registering for the IDR, you will be redirected to the StudenLoans.gov site to complete the rest of the process.
- Open your browser and visit www.myfedloan.org/troublepaying.
- Click on the Explore IDR Plans tab on the home page.
- Tap on Apply Now. You will be asked permission to redirect to another site(gov ) Click on Continue to studentloans.gov
- Click on Log In
- Select Create an Account.
- Click on the Get Started
- Type in the following information:
- First Name.
- Middle Name.
- Last Name.
- Date of Birth.
- Social Security Number (SSN)
- Click on the Continue
- Create a Username. It must be a combination of upper case, lower case letter, and numerical. Username must be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 30 characters.
- Type in Email Address.
- Reconfirm by retyping the Email Address.
- Create an account Password. The password must be a combination of uppercase, lower case letter as well as numbers. It must be more than 8 characters.
- Re-type the password again to confirm.
- Click on the Continue
- Next, enter the permanent address:
- ZIP Code.
- Mobile Phone Number.
- Confirm by retyping the Mobile Phone Number.
- You may add Alternate Phone Number.
- You may opt for mobile phone account recovery in case you forget your account credentials. You can easily set credentials with the help of the mobile number account recovery system.
- Click on the Continue
- Select your preferred mode of communication from Email and Postal Mail.
- Select your preferred mode of informational communication from Email and Text Message.
- Select your preferred language from the dropdown list.
- Tap on the Continue
- Select four challenge questions and their respective answers.
- Click on Continue.
- At a glance check if all the information is correct and valid once more thoroughly. Make any necessary changes as you won’t be able to change again.
- Agree to the Federal Student Aid Terms and Conditions.
- Click on Continue.
